During this morning workshop you will be inspired to select from Sarah’s (of Sarita Prints Joy) extensive collection of hand-carved Indian woodblocks to design and print your own square cushion cover. Sarah will demonstrate how to print effectively using woodblock stamps and give inspiration and ideas for your pattern and print layout and use of colour, before you practice your design on a paper template. There will be ample time for you to handprint your unique pattern onto a 50x50cm cream cushion cover to take home and enjoy.
Sarah is printing enthusiast who is passionate about sharing her love of woodblock printing through workshops. Her extensive collection of woodblock stamps are all hand carved in India in various designs and patterns. Whether using them to print onto fabric or paper, woodblock printing is a joyful and immersive craft that lends its self to creating beautiful patterns and designs that translate well across a range of items from a cushion for a chair, set of napkins, a table runner or a stylish drum lampshade. Sarah is drawn to an uplifting and vibrant palette of colours when printing and likes to encourage participants in her workshops to reflect on the colours that spark joy in them and use them when printing their own cushion or set of napkins to take home.
